Spring is springing!

Following on from my last blog about the spring flowers inspiring the card for Less is More challenge, I thought I'd post the photos of the spring flowers in the garden.
I did a couple of hours tidying up some of the dead leaves this afternoon and found several clumps of snowdrops. The daffodils in the lawn are about 5 inches high so p'raps with a bit of sunshine it won't be too long before they start to flower!

One Layer Card

This week's challenge is to make a card with only one layer. Now that's a tough one for me because I really don't do stamping ~ I almost always use diecuts.
This is a sentiment that I made in Publisher ~ I use this prog all the time ~ I think it's because it's one of the first things I learnt many years ago when we first had computers in the school where I worked. Then I used 2 tiny Docrafts flower stamps for the flower and leaf and 5 small pearls to finish off. I coloured the flowers in using Promarkers. The inspiration for the flowers came from a quick walk round the garden this morning and discovering the crocuses poking their little heads up through the soil. Spring seems to be coming at last!

More 'Less is more' !!

Since doing the Less is more challenge I've been crafting madly and have decided that 'less is more' is definitely the way to go!

New blog challenge .... Less is more

And today's post is for....................the Less is More challenge ~ a brand new challenge blog!!
I tried to keep the card clean and simple ~ two die cut hearts, one black and one pink glitter (!) mounted on to a plain white 5inch square card. 'With love' is embossed using a Provocraft embossing folder and there are two lines either side (which don't show up very well in the photo) Finished off with 3 pink gems. Definitely less is more!! I hope this meets the Challenge requirements ~ I don't do very much stamping , I prefer die cutting. I think I may have to make this the Valentine card for OH!!http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/

January crafting

A depressing time of the year so I've been crafting to while away the miserable murky days.

'Inchies' are my favourite at the moment and I've used up quite a lot of stickers and bits and pieces I've had hanging around.

Daisy card inspired by Helen Geddes

So that's inchies in sets of 3, 4 and 9.
I've also made some flowery cards
This is a wedding card commissioned by a friend

.... and this just a 'spare' for my box.
Watch this space for more to come ~ I'm in creative mode!

Crafty stuff!

I've spent the last few weeks creating and making things for the school (where I worked as a TA for 27 years) Christmas Fair. I go back weekly now as a volunteer to help with art classes (of course!) These are a few of the projects I've been working on.

These are candy cane mice - made with foam, goggle eyes and pom pom noses and of course candy canes. An idea I adapted from one I found here
also ideas from here

These  are  2 absolutely brilliant blogs!

Chewy lollies - pink and flowery for the girls and green for the boys

Friendship bracelets - keep one and give one to your best friend!
Froggy bookmarks
Lovely flowery pencils

Elizabeth Shaw Mints made into flowers
And finally, cupcakes made using Sizzix diecut wrappers and filled with socks, hats, gloves, beanie hats and face cloths
I won't be at the Christmas Fair so I hope they all sell well and make lots of money for the school!!

December 7th!!!

2 birthdays and 1 anniversary to make cards for on December 7th  - so here they are!
The cupcake card is for Libbie - obviously! She makes such gorgeous cakes for everyone else I thought that I'd make her one - even though she can't eat it! She's on her 'wedding' diet anyway! The card was cut out on the Cricut.

This card is for a friend I worked with for over 20 years. Quite appropriate for an ex-music teacher

And finally .................... an anniversary card for my cousin and his wife who're celebrating 25 years of married bliss!
I'm loving this 3D flower die. Flowers are made with handmade paper and the tips of petals are tinted with inks. Ivy leaves are Nellie Snellen dies.
