Less is More - feeling fruity - 3rd card!

Oh wow there's no stopping me now. This is card number3 and this time it's plums.
A digi image from Create with TLC which I've coloured in with Promarkers. We have a  plum tree in the garden and I'm hoping that if the birds leave it alone we'll have zillions of plums in the next few weeks - it's been an amazing year for fruit in the garden this year.
I cut the image out with a nestie but I did partial cutting so that the edges of the leaves hang outside the frame - fiddly but worth the effort don't you think? Sentiment once again is handwritten. Base card is a pale green 5inch square. Off now to sit in the sunshine.
Plums - look good enough to eat!

Less is More - feeling fruity

First of all, thanks for all those kind comments on my first effort this week . Mandi and Chrissie you do inspire us you know . I really did think my mojo had gone for a long holiday. Does anyone else think that when they've had a longish break from crafting I wonder?

Ok so this is card no 2. Apples again! I thought this might be an amusing card for a child - they love yukky things like grubs in apples don't they?
I punched out apples and leaves and a punched swirl for the 'grub' and gave him two little eyes with a white pen. Also punched out the little holes for 'grubby' to climb through.
The faux stitched border is done with a red pen as is the handwritten sentiment.
Base card is a plain white 5inch square.
And now I'm going to see if I can think of any more ideas for different fruits.

Less is More - week 26 - feeling fruity!

Well I don't know about 'feeling fruity' I'm feeling exhausted - after my two week holiday I only had two days at home (just time to do the washing!) and then I was off again to house/cat sit for my daughter for a week. Which is why I haven't been blogging or doing the LIM challenge. I felt quite deprived not being able to craft for so long but now I'm back at home and yes, you've guessed it my inspiration has gone on holiday!!!!
Today's card is not very original but maybe later in the week ........ who knows?
A 5inch square card - white linen effect - for base and 4 white inchies mounted on red. Then 4 'school' type embellishments that I found after a quick hunt around and a computer generated sentiment.
an apple for the teacher!

Jafs and me !

Well it seems ages since I've had the chance to blog properly. The beginning of July saw me and OH on holiday in France. We stay with my sister and brother-in-law at their house in the Loire valley. As they have a swimming pool we usually manage to get lots of swimming/sitting by the pool done while we're there - but not this year!!! Weather was definitely a bit of a let down. As they saying goes (!) when it's hot, it's very, very hot but when it's not, it's horrid. Sorry couldn't resist that. OH drove back almost all the way to West Midlands in rain and we arrived back last Wednesday, very late. I had a brief two days at home - just enough time to get my plants in the garden and greenhouse almost sorted and then I was off again - this time to cat/house sit for my daughter and 'soon-to-be-son-in-law' at their house in Leicester while they're are on holiday in the south of France.

Jaffa- isn't he gorgeous?
This is Jaffa - he's good company (when he's awake) and likes nothing more than a comfy lap to sit and sleep on.
But I'm MISSING doing my crafting! I can't wait to get back to my cosy craft room and create. I've got so many ideas buzzing round in my head though I'll probably forget them once I'm back. I'm going to enter the LIM challenges once again (I sooooo miss those) and just generally keep in touch with blogland. Off to make my lunch now and then maybe cut out some more fabric triangles for Libbie to make the bunting for the wedding.
Back on Saturday.

Less is More - week 23 - Legs!

Well here I am on my hols staying in the beautiful Loire Valley at my sister's house. Weather not too brilliant as yet but we have managed a swim in the pool this afternoon.
OH and I went to the market at Saumur this morning and saw some really colourful stalls - pics to follow later when I worked out how to put them on San's computer.
Couldn't resist making a card for the lovely lady and diva LIMettes so I borrowed big sis's pc when we got back and found a digi image of ............................
ladybirds , which have got legs! Then I found a great ladybird poem which was apparently on a box of tissues years ago (according to the website)! Borrowed San's Promarkers and spent a pleasant afternoon colouring in. Probably won't have time for any more this week - lots of sunshine and swimming to enjoy!

Less is More - week 22 - Blue

And finally ........................
This really is the last one for this week as I must go and get packing sorted out for trip to France. Then I must make sure all my plants are happy in the garden! And the little chrysanthemum cuttings are OK in the greenhouse.
So for this one I thought I'd have a go at STAMPING! If you've read any of my earlier posts you probably know by now I don't do much (if any stamping) Basically I'm no good at it. It goes splodgy or ends up not being straight or something generally goes wrong so I just don't do it.
But I found this trellis stamp and had a vision of plants and stems twisting their way round and through it!!! Wrong!! When I'd stamped it (reasonably well I thought) I just couldn't get it to work with the flowers. So I made it into a window by drawing a frame round it then adding a peel-off. So now it looked like a church window and I thought - sympathy card. I coloured a few tiny flowers with Promarkers in different shades of blue, added pearl centres (coloured to make them match) and a Creallie leaf die.
See you all in a couple of weeks time. Au revoir for now!

Less is More - week 22 - Blue

Well I'm making up for the couple of weeks of not blogging and 'less is more' ing today. Third card for this week's challenge is using, yes you guessed it - paint strips 'borrowed' from a local D-I-Y store. I thought it would make an ideal new home card so I punched out house shapes from the piece I cut off the side and then did a handwritten sentiment. Base card is a 5inch square plain white.Nothing else, as the saying goes  - it does what it says on the tin! - new home.

For anyone who hasn't visited yet, do check out this blog - it's brilliant!

Less is More - week 22 - Blue

And another one!!! So love this week's theme at http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/
So here's my second effort. Once again I made a 5 inch square base card from bright blue embossed 'dotty' card. Then I added a strip of a different colour blue of the same type of card, made a strip from a Martha Stewart punch in pearlescent ble paper and finally added a ribbon with hearts on it. Sentiment is a white rub on transfer. If I have time before my holiday starts on Tuesday I may be back with another. If not, see you all in a couple of weeks, though I shall be keeping an eye on the entries when I'm in France!!

Less is More - week 22- BLUE

This is so spooky!! I've been catching up on making family and friends' birthday cards this week and as most of them were for men, guess what?................. Yup, most of them had a blue theme!
But I had to make a special effort for the lovely Lady and Diva Lims so I made another one this morning. Just a quickie because I'm off to a special school reunion later this morning. The school that I left (can you believe it) 50 years ago - yes I AM that old - is 100 years old this year so they're having a centenary celebration. Can't wait to see how many girls turn up and to see how we've all changed!
I'm sorry I'm rambling again - so with a blue theme I made this 'Just to say' card. It's a 5 inch square dark blue base card (some I had left over from making Christmas cards a couple of years ago) and I scored a couple of lines to help keep the little squares straight! These are just bits out of my 'odds' drawer. Then I added a dotted line with a white pen and did a ............HANDWRITTEN! - yes handwritten sentiment also in white. I used to have very good handwriting (years of practise working in a school) and wondered if it was still as good. What do you think. Should I have put a printed one on?
Off to get ready for my day out now. No doubt I'll see you later with another one - I'm loving this week's theme.
Close up of my handwriting.
