Less is More ~ 3 squares

Mmmm, when I saw this challenge I thought it would be easy!! I've made quite a few 'inchie' type cards recently using 3,4, 6 or 9 squares depending on the size of the base card. But when it came to ideas I went blank! Does this happen to everyone?
Anyway I had a quick look through my notebook and found this phrase. It was just crying out for 3 squares. As I've said before, I'm not great at stamping and I don't have many stamps, so this was designed in my favourite programme, Publisher. I printed out on the 'spare' from the card I was using for the 5 inch base card ~ a lovely ivory pearl colour and then heat embossed it. I added gold ribbon and 3 tiny chocolate coloured pearls (though they look a bit pink in the photo). Light not very good for taking photos today so it looks better in 'real life' I think.
Thank you for taking the time to look.

Card making spree

Well the weather hasn't been warm (or dry) enough to go into the garden over the last few days so I've had a BIG card making session. It's funny how some days the ideas come quicker than you make cards and other days there is no inspiration at all. I've had a few good days!!!!
a couple of 'horsey' cards!
These are using stickers that I found in 'Home Bargains' a couple of weeks ago.

Gingham and dots

And using more of my bargain stickers. I really like doing 9 squares again. When I first started card making I did this style with either 4,6 or 9 squares and I'd forgotten how much I liked it.

This is a birthday card I was asked to do by a friend for her Mom's 70th birthday ~ she loved it! Very different from the less is more I've started to do.

And finally 2 cards I made to put in my 'box'.

Lots of different styles here  ~ I like them all!

Less is more ~ Spring

.......And this week the theme is Spring. Which obviously makes me think of flowers! I love to see the tiny crocus heads and snowdrops peeking through the cold soil ~ makes me think that at last winter could be over and a new year beginning. Hence the sentiment on my card.
The flowers are a digi image, a sentiment is one I made and then put both together in Publisher. Then I coloured very lightly with Promarkers. As I said in an earlier post, I find this programme easy to use simply because I used to use it so often when I was working at school.I used a 5 inch square lemony coloured base card and added some tiny gems to highlight the main flower and as an embellishment to the side of the sentiment.
Not a brilliant photo but the light today is terrible ~ it's a dismal, damp sort of day~ just the sort of day to stay in crafting! Now I'm going to have a play at doing sentiments in Word following Chrissie's tutorial.

Spring is springing!

Following on from my last blog about the spring flowers inspiring the card for Less is More challenge, I thought I'd post the photos of the spring flowers in the garden.
I did a couple of hours tidying up some of the dead leaves this afternoon and found several clumps of snowdrops. The daffodils in the lawn are about 5 inches high so p'raps with a bit of sunshine it won't be too long before they start to flower!

One Layer Card

This week's challenge is to make a card with only one layer. Now that's a tough one for me because I really don't do stamping ~ I almost always use diecuts.
This is a sentiment that I made in Publisher ~ I use this prog all the time ~ I think it's because it's one of the first things I learnt many years ago when we first had computers in the school where I worked. Then I used 2 tiny Docrafts flower stamps for the flower and leaf and 5 small pearls to finish off. I coloured the flowers in using Promarkers. The inspiration for the flowers came from a quick walk round the garden this morning and discovering the crocuses poking their little heads up through the soil. Spring seems to be coming at last!

New blog challenge .... Less is more

And today's post is for....................the Less is More challenge ~ a brand new challenge blog!!
I tried to keep the card clean and simple ~ two die cut hearts, one black and one pink glitter (!) mounted on to a plain white 5inch square card. 'With love' is embossed using a Provocraft embossing folder and there are two lines either side (which don't show up very well in the photo) Finished off with 3 pink gems. Definitely less is more!! I hope this meets the Challenge requirements ~ I don't do very much stamping , I prefer die cutting. I think I may have to make this the Valentine card for OH!!http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/

January crafting

A depressing time of the year so I've been crafting to while away the miserable murky days.

'Inchies' are my favourite at the moment and I've used up quite a lot of stickers and bits and pieces I've had hanging around.

Daisy card inspired by Helen Geddes

So that's inchies in sets of 3, 4 and 9.
I've also made some flowery cards
This is a wedding card commissioned by a friend

.... and this just a 'spare' for my box.
Watch this space for more to come ~ I'm in creative mode!
